About Me

I am an Assistant Professor Faculty Fellow of Urban Studies at NYU Shanghai. I recently earned my PhD in Urban Planning at Columbia University’s Graduate School of Architecture, Planning and Preservation (GSAPP). My research focuses on the technological, economic, and regulatory mechanisms contributing to racial disparities, segregation and exclusion in urban areas. I have particular interests in mortgage lending, housing affordability, homelessness, neighborhood change, and educational equity, and I strive to design studies that inform policy and produce actionable results for legislators, regulators, planners, and advocacy organizations. I also incorporate data science methods in my work, leveraging new ‘big data’ sources, web-scraped data, and complex administrative data sets to answer pressing urban questions.
I am also a faculty affiliate at NYU's Furman Center and at the Social Policy Institute at Washington University in St. Louis. I have professional experience in the public education, affordable housing development, and research sectors, most recently at Skid Row Housing Trust and Columbia World Projects. I hold a Master in Urban Planning degree from Harvard University’s Graduate School of Design and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from Pepperdine University.
